Lion's Mane Mushroom and Big Brown Bat Skull
Lion's Mane Mushroom and Big Brown Bat Skull
This is a hand painted little painting is roughly 4.5x4 inches in size. It was made using graphite, colored pencil, gouache and watercolor paint. This painting can be used as a wall hanging.
This painting depicts lion’s mane mushrooms, a big brown bat skull and a isabella tiger moth. Lion’s mane mushrooms are edible and are commonly used as a main or side dish, adding a nice texture and seafood-like flavor. From recent studies, they may have regenerative properties, stimulating nerve growth. These mushrooms are found in Asia, Europe and North America and tend to grow late summer to early fall. Unlike most mushrooms that grow at the base of trees or on decaying logs, lion’s mane prefer growing higher up on dying hardwood trees like oak and beech.
